Dishwasher won't start or has no power
My dishwasher is dead, or the lights are on but nothing happens when I press start. Why?
Straight answer: A dishwasher with no power is usually the breaker, the under-sink switch or the door latch. Lights on but no start points to the door latch, control lock or a control board that isn't getting the go-ahead.

Error codes you might see
Many models blink the start light when the door isn't latched. Bosch shows E01 or E02 for control faults.
What it usually means
- Breaker tripped or the wall switch under the sink turned off
- Door latch not engaging, so the safety switch stays open
- Control lock or delayed-start engaged by accident
- Thermal fuse on the control board blown
- Control board or touch panel failed
Safe to check yourself
- Check the breaker and any switch under the sink or on the wall beside the dishwasher
- Press the door shut firmly until it clicks
- Look for a padlock or control-lock icon and hold the button it points to
- Cancel any delayed start and try again
Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before touching anything behind or under it. If you're not comfortable, skip the checks and call; the visit covers all of this.
Time to call when
- The breaker trips when the dishwasher is turned on (stop and call)
- The door latch feels loose or doesn't click
- The panel lights up but ignores every button
What the visit looks like
A technician comes to your place, diagnoses the dishwasher and tells you what it needs and what it costs. You decide; nothing starts without your okay. $99 CAD covers the visit and diagnosis anywhere in our area.
Dishwasher repair: what to expect
Good to know
Could it be the wiring rather than the dishwasher?
Sometimes. If there's no power at the unit at all, we confirm the supply before touching the dishwasher so you're not paying for the wrong repair.
Is a control panel worth replacing?
It depends on the brand and the age. The visit gives you the number and you decide.
