Ice maker not making ice
My ice maker stopped making ice, or makes very little. What's wrong?
Straight answer: An ice maker that's gone quiet is usually one of four things: no water getting to it, a frozen fill tube, the freezer not cold enough, or the ice maker unit itself. Samsung and LG French-door models are the ones we see most.

Error codes you might see
On many Samsung models a frozen-over ice maker is the usual story; LG models may show the ice maker light blinking.
What it usually means
- Water inlet valve not opening or the supply line frozen
- Fill tube iced up behind the ice maker
- Freezer running warmer than about −18 °C
- Ice maker module or motor failed
- Ice maker switched off or the arm stuck in the off position
Safe to check yourself
- Make sure the ice maker is actually switched on
- Check that the water dispenser works; if it doesn't, the water supply is the issue
- Confirm the freezer is properly cold with a thermometer if you have one
- Empty the ice bin so old, clumped ice isn't jamming it
Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before touching anything behind or under it. If you're not comfortable, skip the checks and call; the visit covers all of this.
Time to call when
- The water dispenser works but there's still no ice after 24 hours
- The ice maker is frosted over or dripping
- You hear it trying to cycle but nothing comes out

Is an ice maker repair worth it?
Usually. Ice maker parts are modest and the fix is often done in one visit. The technician gives you the price before doing anything.
Do you replace water filters?
We can, but check the filter yourself first; a clogged filter can cut the water flow enough to stop ice production.
