Washer
Washer not spinning or clothes still soaking wet (UE, UB, UL codes)
My washer finishes but the clothes are sopping wet. Why won't it spin?
Straight answer: If it drains but won't spin, the washer is usually protecting itself from an unbalanced load, or the lid lock, belt or motor control has an issue. If it also won't drain, start with the drain page instead.

Error codes you might see
LG shows UE, Samsung UB or UE, Maytag and Whirlpool UL or F7 E1. These mean the machine thinks the load is unbalanced or the drum can't reach speed.
What it usually means
- Load genuinely unbalanced (one heavy item like a comforter)
- Suspension rods or dampers worn, so the drum rocks and trips the sensor
- Drive belt slipped or broken on belt-driven models
- Lid lock or door switch not confirming
- Motor, clutch or motor control board at fault
Safe to check yourself
- Rearrange the load and run a spin-only cycle
- Try a small, evenly spread load; if that spins, the problem is balance or suspension
- Check the washer is level and not rocking on the floor
- Make sure the lid or door closes firmly and the lock clicks
Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before touching anything behind or under it. If you're not comfortable, skip the checks and call; the visit covers all of this.
Time to call when
- A small balanced load still won't spin
- The drum bangs hard against the cabinet on spin
- There's a burning smell, grinding or a loud whine
What the visit looks like

Washing machine repair: what to expect
Good to know
Can I keep using it on a lower spin speed?
For a few loads, maybe. If it's the suspension, a lower spin reduces the banging but doesn't fix it, and the drum can damage other parts.
Is a top-loader bearing repair worth it?
It depends on age. We give you the straight numbers on the visit and you decide, no pressure.
