Washer
Washer leaking water from the bottom or the door
There's water on the floor around my washer. Where is it coming from?
Straight answer: Where the water shows up tells most of the story. Front of the machine means the door seal or detergent drawer; back means hoses or the inlet valve; underneath during drain means the pump or a hose clamp. Stop using it until it's looked at.

What it usually means
- Door boot seal torn or holding debris on a front-loader
- Fill hoses or inlet valve dripping at the back
- Drain hose split or loose at the pump
- Detergent drawer overflowing from too much soap or a clogged channel
- Tub seal or a cracked outer tub on older machines
Safe to check yourself
- Turn off both water taps behind the washer if you can reach them
- Wipe the floor dry and run a short cycle while watching where the water first appears
- Check the door seal for small items, hair or mould along the fold
- Cut detergent to half; too much suds pushes water out the drawer and the door
Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before touching anything behind or under it. If you're not comfortable, skip the checks and call; the visit covers all of this.
Time to call when
- Water appears under the machine during the drain or spin
- The door seal has a visible tear
- The leak continues with the taps off (that points to internal parts)
What the visit looks like
